The Perfect Staycation in the NYC suburbs

Sunday, April 14th, 2019

At Boundless Adventures, we believe in the power of the staycation.  Sometimes, traveling far and wide isn’t feasible for your family, whether it’s because of costs or a lack of time.  Luckily, staycationing has made planning an amazing vacation near home easy and accessible.  For the adventurous, fearless family, here are our top tips for planning an amazing staycation in Westchester county, New York.

Things to do with kids near me

  1. Know your audience.

The easiest way for a staycation to go downhill is planning to do something that your family doesn’t enjoy.  For instance, going to a waterpark if your children don’t know how to swim.  This is an extreme example, but it’s important to keep your audience in mind when planning a staycation.  Everyone should be excited to go on the adventure, and remain excited for the next one.  Consult everyone in the family, and see if there’s anything they’re all interested in doing.

At Boundless, we pride ourselves on putting safety first.  This includes ensuring that all our visitors feel confident in themselves before going up in the trees.  However, knowing that a visit to our aerial adventure parks, where zip lining, climbing, and traversing are all part of the fun, is right for your family comes from you.  Check in with your kids before and after coming to one of the parks, so that you’re all on the same page.

2. Become a tourist in your own town.

The most rewarding experiences in a staycation are when you find attractions right in your hometown.  If it’s difficult to think of an activity you haven’t tried before, try looking at your town through a tourist’s eyes.  For instance, there may be an art gallery or butterfly garden where you usually go shopping.  Many towns have museums exploring the local history, or rotating exhibits with something new each month.  Are there eateries in town you haven’t tried yet?  Exploring your home with new eyes not only gives you the chance for new experiences, but gives you a deeper appreciation of the gems hidden right next door.

Our New York park is located in Westchester county, which is about forty-five minutes from New York City.  Besides visiting the park, there are a plethora of fun activities right around the corner.  Visit art galleries on GreenwichAve, explore a museum in the city, or ride rollercoasters at Playland Park.  There are hundreds of adventures waiting right next door.  If you want to spend even more time at the park, we often have special event days where you can challenge your climbing times or zip lining prowess.  No matter how much time you’ve spent, there’s always something new to do at the park—another course to traverse, or another ledge to leap off.

3. Check in with others.

Once you’ve found some possible attractions and have had them approved by your family, it’s time to see what other people have to say.  On websites like Yelp and Facebook, you can find reviews of every restaurant, rest stop, and attraction you may want to visit.  In addition, traveling locally means there is a high chance your friends and neighbors have explored where you want to go.  Using input from people you trust, reviews, and your good judgment, you can determine which stops are a must-see for your family, and which you’re better off skipping.  Doing further research also allows you to weigh the cost of the experience, and ensure it’s in your budget for the day.

It’s extremely important to the Boundless Adventures team that all our guests have an amazing time at our parks.  We are very active on social media, where we answer questions, respond to feedback, and run giveaways to give back to the Boundless community.  Seeing families and friends return to the park time after time fills our heart.

4.  Expect the unexpected.

Unfortunately, things can go wrong on a staycation.  In case that something occurs that you weren’t planning, remember to pack snacks, portable medicine samples, activities for the car, and any first aid supplies you may need—you can never go wrong with extra bandages and baby wipes.  This will keep everyone in high spirits, and ready for the next attraction.

In our parks, we strive to give every guest a sense of comfort and trust in our staff and the park grounds.  Safety comes first no matter what; so all visitors go through a mandatory tutorial on climbing in the park, which includes the technicalities with the equipment and how to maneuver through certain elements like the zip lines.  We also have water, snacks, and merchandise available for purchase, as well as first aid supplies and trained officials.

5. Leave fear at the door.

Staycationing is one of the best ways for your family to bond.  These shared experiences will become treasured memories recounted at every get-together with laughter and love.  For the most rewarding staycation, choose activities that challenge you and your family to step out of their comfort zone.  Growth doesn’t need to happen inside the classroom, it can happen at an aquarium or a waterpark or a butterfly garden or an apple orchard.  For the best staycation, be ready and willing to try something new—especially if it scares you.

More than anything, Boundless Adventures is about being unafraid to try something new.  Aerial adventure parks are popping up around the world, but they are still a new type of attraction for your family to enjoy.  To be successful at our parks requires setting aside the fear of the unknown, and plunging in headfirst.  People get the best out of a Boundless Adventures experience by being ready and willing to do whatever it takes to reach the end of the course.

In Purchase, NY, Berlin, MA, and Kenosha, WI, thousands of families have experienced their perfect staycation with Boundless Adventures.  Our aerial adventure parks give you the chance to rock climb, zip line, traverse, and swing your way to success.  Amidst the treetops, you’ll challenge yourself to reach greater heights.  Perfect for thrill seekers and people who want to try something new, regardless of age or skill level.  At Boundless, it’s all about the altitude.  Book your adventure today at boundlessadventures.net.

How to Have the Perfect Staycation in the Suburbs of Boston

Sunday, April 14th, 2019

At Boundless Adventures, we believe in the power of the staycation.  With so many days off from school, vacations aren’t always an option due to household budgets, job commitments, etc.  “Staycationing” has become a popular way to have some great family bonding time taking part in activities that are much closer to home.  For the brave and fun loving families, here is our advice for devising the best staycation in the greater Boston area.

Things to do with kids near me

1.Consider past adventures.

What activities has your family participated in that left the best lasting impression? When did you feel most bonded with your family? Talk to your family and get their input as well. Everyone should be excited to go on the adventure, and remain excited for the next one.

At Boundless, we believe that safety comes first.  We provide a safety briefing for all of our guests to ensure that all climbers feel confident in themselves before taking on the treetop adventure.  A visit to our aerial adventure parks includes zip lining and tackling many high ropes challenge courses. Check in with your family to make sure that they enjoy climbing, traversing, strategizing, balancing, and of course, ziplining!

2. Become a sightseer in your backyard.

One of the best parts of having a staycation is realizing how great it is to live in the suburbs of Boston.  If you are having a hard time figuring out new adventures to tackle on your staycation, try looking at Massachusetts through a tourist’s eyes.  As an example, there may be an art gallery or butterfly garden where you do your shopping.  Lots of neighborhoods have museums that delve into the local history

Our Massachusetts park is located in the little town of Berlin, in Worcester County. It is about forty-five minutes from Boston and easily accessible from all major highways.  Besides visiting our aerial park, there are a number of fun activities right around the corner.  Visit the Worcester Art Museum, or do a historical tour of Boston on the freedom trail.  There are enough adventures to fill more staycation days than you have! But you can always include Boundless Adventures in all of your staycations. No matter how many times you visit, there’s always a new challenge to conquer, another ledge to leap from.

3. Read the reviews.

Once you’ve come up with some found some available activities, and have gotten the buy in from your family, check out what other people have to say.  On websites like Yelp and Facebook, you can find reviews of every restaurant and attraction you are considering visiting.  Reviews are a great way to weed out places with poor customer service, but more importantly, they often provide tips about how to maximize the experience.

It’s extremely important to the Boundless Adventures team that all our guests have an amazing time at our parks.  We post regularly on social media, answering questions, responding to reviews, and holding contests to excite the Boundless community.  Seeing families and friends return to the park time after time is amazing.

4.  Expect the unexpected.

Unfortunately, as in life, things might not always go smoothly.  In case that something occurs that you weren’t planning, remember to pack snacks, portable medicine samples, activities for the car, and any first aid supplies you may need—you can never go wrong with extra bandages and baby wipes.  This will keep everyone in high spirits, and ready for the next attraction.

At our aerial adventure parks, we strive to ensure all of our visitors feel comfortable and trust in our staff and the facilities.  We have have water, snacks, and merchandise available for purchase, as well as first aid supplies and trained staff, including CPR certification of all employees.

5. Leave fear at the door.

Staycationing can be one of the most memorable and bonding experiences for your family.  These shared experiences will become treasured memories recounted at gatherings.  For the most rewarding staycation, choose activities that challenge you and your family to step out of their comfort zone.  Growth doesn’t need to happen inside the classroom, it can happen anywhere.  For the best staycation, be ready and willing to try something new—especially if it scares you.

More than anything, Boundless Adventures is about challenging your boundaries. We combine the best of zipline canopy tours with extensive high ropes courses to create a top notch experience. Our ziplines are all self-guided, allowing for your active involvement, and a sense of accomplishment. With over 100 other rope bridges, you will have many opportunities to conquer your fears.

5 Amazing Facts About Zip Lining

Friday, March 1st, 2019

With over 3 million people between Milwaukee and Chicago, there’s bound to be a few that have a fear of heights. At Boundless Adventures – a NEW aerial adventure park, located in Kenosha, WI – our mission is to help people overcome their fear of heights and help them challenge their boundaries.

Our aerial adventure park – located just off 1-94, right by the Premium Outlets – is a combination high ropes course and zipline park. With 9 total courses, designed for all skill levels, our park and our staff are here to help you get comfortable playing in the tree-tops.

Overcome your fear of heights

However, if you are still on the fence, here are a few amazing facts about ziplines that will get you motivated to come visit us.

  1. Some children actually zipline to school.  In a remote area of Columbia children must choose between a 2-hour hike down the side of a mountain or to traverse a zip line.  Most choose to hang 754 feet above a canyon for a half mile ride that reaches up to 55 mph. For the really little children, they ride in a sack and are carried by their parents down the zip line.
  2. Ziplines are popular with the masses.  There are commercial ziplines in every state in the U.S. and every province in Canada, with the exception of Prince Edward Island.  There is even a zipline in a place called North Pole, Alaska.
  3. The world’s longest zipline is 9,290 feet!.  Located in the United Arab Emirates, this zipline reaches speeds in excess of 150 km/h.
  4. Zip lining is so easy that 183 people can zipline down one course in an hour.  This world record was set on June 3, 2012 in West Virginia.  That zip line measured 203 feet in length.
  5. Zip lines are for the young, the old, and the very old.  The oldest person to ever zip line was Jack Reynolds.  On April 6, 2018 he set his 3rd Guinness World Record by zip lining at the age of 106 in the United Kingdom!

Why zipline at Boundless Adventures – Kenosha, WI?

  • Because there is NOTHING like it! Even one of the larger aerial adventure parks in the area only has 80 elements – our park has 120 unique elements, including 20 ziplines.
  • There are zipline options for all skill levels
  • See what our happy customers from New York have to say (we also have a park in Berlin, MA ).
  • Even though we are in the great outdoors, we still have real bathrooms for you to use 🙂

Boundless Adventures Means Zipping and Climbing to Confidence

Wednesday, September 5th, 2018

We held a contest on Facebook asking people how Boundless Adventures prepares you for the new school year. We loved Jamie Onofrio Franceschini’s well-articulated response (and she is only 8 years old)!
8 year old loves the zip line

Climbing at Boundless Adventures has made me stronger. I have kidney disease and food allergies. Sometimes I have to take lots of medicines for my kidneys or can’t eat something I want because of my allergies. Sometimes I even have to go in the hospital. This can really stink. Climbing at Boundless Adventures lets me have more fun and get better at climbing. It has also helped me forget about my kidney disease and my food allergies.

The first time I went to Boundless Adventures was for my 8th birthday party and I was so excited but I was worried that I would be confused, and fall. But instead I was happy and excited when I started. My favorite thing at Boundless Adventures is the ziplines!!!!!!!!!! The first time I did the zipline I was screaming so loud. When I go on the ziplines I feel happy. After I finally finished the first obstacle course I was relieved that I liked it. Then I went on another one!

I love Boundless Adventures. I told my parents that I wish I could come every day! When I go to Boundless Adventures I have lots of fun, and I can enjoy something with my family. Now that I have climbed three times I’m not afraid anymore. I love to lean back on the platforms and feel free (as seen in the picture). Boundless Adventures gives me something good to look forward to. Next week I am starting third grade. I feel stronger and more confident and can’t wait to climb on the weekends.

I love Boundless Adventures!

How Learning Disabled Children Can Be Boundless!

Monday, June 18th, 2018

I wanted to describe a profoundly moving experience that I had at the park. Below are pictures of Joe. Joe is a fifth Grader at Washington Irving Elementary school in Tarrytown. Joe is autistic and completely non-verbal. I had the honor of climbing with him on Tuesday. At first, I was moving Joe’s hands and feet to where they needed to be each step of the way. Little by little, Joe began to anticipate where I was going to move his hands and feet and beat me to it. After a while Joe was moving by himself. After I would showed him what was required of him for each element, he would progress across on his own. While we were clipping and unclipping him, after a while, he began trying to help us. From what I am told be his teachers, Joe doesn’t smile a lot and rarely makes eye contact. There were four times during our climb that Joe stopped, looked me in the eye, and rubbed my arm. He also smiled and giggled several times. I am not embarrassed to say that I had tears in my eyes a few times during this amazing adventures.

Joe is Boundless!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Importance of Giving Back

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018

On May 20, we hosted our first fundraiser at Boundless Adventures in which we helped raise more than $10,000 for the Make a Wish Hudson Valley. After being diagnosed in January 2017 with a brain tumor, undergoing an immediate surgery and plodding through a year of chemo, this special child was motivated to organize a fundraiser (with the help of her equally amazing mother) to raise at least $10,000 for Make a Wish, the average cost of a wish. The fundraiser was appropriately named “Climbing for Wishes”. Boundless Adventures hosted over 100 climbers who zipped through the trees in our outdoor aerial adventure park. Enjoy the attached video! Please reach out to us if you are interested in hosting a fundraiser at Boundless Adventures. Our ziplines can’t wait 🙂
