Enrich Your Children One Tree at a Time
Boundless Adventures in Westchester County New York, is proud to be offering a program this fall that will allow for socially-distanced physical fitness, but more importantly, will provide for socialization opportunities as well as personal development. All participants will have the opportunity to conquer the level one above their "with adult" level (Blue for 8-9 year olds, Black for 10+).
Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) has been a focus in New York state since 2011 and has been a cornerstone of the schools' curriculum. With distance learning and social distancing, SEL has been missing. The 5 pillars of SEL are self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making. Please see below as to how Boundless Adventures naturally provides for experiential learning.
Our staff will actively engage with your kids to better understand how they are feeling (nervous, confident, excited) and how those feelings evolve over the weeks. We will help them to discover what they are capable of and improve on their strengths.
Boundless Adventures has rules in place for safety purposes and to preserve the environment. We provide a structured environment that fosters the setting of appropriate goals and directions on how to achieve them.
We break the classes down to small groups where we foster empathy and respect for others. Our activity provides a uniquely level playing field, breaking down the social norms that typically exist in groups. Further, we foster a “challenge by choice” philosophy whereby everyone’s role in the day is respected, and there is no tolerance for intimidation or group pressure.
Climbers will communicate with staff and their peers while they are in the trees. They describe challenges they are facing, ask for advice about specific elements, and alert a staff member if they would like to get down from a course. Aspects of teamwork practiced on the course include motivation, developing relationships, healthy competition, and problem-solving.
Climbers will conquer many unique obstacles that require honing their problem solving skills. We will also take time at the end for reflections. This is the most important part of team building because it is when the value of the experience is realized. During this process, the group will share ideas, opinions, what worked, what didn’t, what they would have done differently, and how it can be applied in our everyday lives.
