How to Pick the Best After School Program for Your Kids Near Kenosha, WI

Thursday, August 20th, 2020

The fall is approaching quickly, and cable television is running back to school commercials regularly. This time, while often exciting for students who are ready to get back into routine, see their friends, and participate in their favorite activities, also causes much apprehension. This happens in any given year, let alone a year plagued by pandemic and global uncertainty. The show must go on, however, and though much has changed, some things remain the same; many parents still need to arrange for after school care for their children. Unfortunately, many parents don’t know where to begin in their search for the perfect after school program. Here is what they need to know.

Finding a Great Kenosha After School Program

After School Program Kenosha WI

A great after school program in WI includes the opportunity for children to extend learning experiences beyond their school day. It does not provide simply a “waiting place” for children as their parents finish their workdays. It is not a place of glorified babysitting, but rather a place where children can explore, grow, and self reflect.

The best after school programs allow for group work and peer engagement, as well as supervision from adults that fosters intellectual curiosity. Now, more so than ever, a great after school program is also engaging in precautionary practices that prevent the spread of disease. These establishments are making safety a priority, and social distancing a rule.

The Best After School Program in WI

Luckily, if you are in the area of Kenosha, WI, you will find the perfect after school program at Boundless Adventures, a thrilling aerial adventure park. This park checks both boxes for safety and learning that will make you feel good about your child’s afternoon recreation. At Boundless Adventures, students will have the opportunity to not only navigate their way through daunting rope and zip-line obstacle courses at various heights amongst the trees, but they will be able to engage in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) experiences while doing so.

SEL is a major component of all school curricula, and a type of learning that many feel has been lacking in recent months due to the lack of in person communication for students. Parents can be confident that their students are reclaiming these opportunities at Boundless Adventures. Self awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making are the five pillars of SEL that your child will practice during their time at this after school program. They must evaluate their feelings as they tackle obstacles, work with others to achieve success, and decide how to approach a variety of situations. These skills are essential for creating global citizens who will one day be the future of our society.

Safe & Fun After School Program in Berlin, MA

Saturday, August 15th, 2020

The month of March is said to come in like a lion and out like a lamb, but the roar in which it began has yet to dull. Take one global pandemic and combine it with the upheavals of daily routine, and what is left is chaos and uncertainty. One of the most discussed negative effects of our recent months has been what parents perceive to be halted learning experiences within their own children.

There is no arguing that digital learning cannot quite capture the same elements of the in-person classroom, but even with the promise of return in the air, it is obvious that this upcoming school year will not be the same as years past. Even more worrisome for parents is how to ensure that their children are safe in their after school care. If you are searching for an after school program in the area of Berlin, MA, however, you are in luck. Look no further than your local aerial adventure park, Boundless Adventures.

The Boundless Adventures After School Program

The Best After School Program in Berlin, MABoundless Adventures is a thrilling experience for all ages; they boast four different difficulty levels for their rope and zip-line obstacle courses, all which sit at varying heights in the air. What you may consider as fun for the whole family or a weekend excursion can also solve all of your after school concerns as well.

As a member of Boundless Adventures’ after school program, your child will not simply be babysat or “looked after” like at so many other establishments; they will work with both peers and adults to take part in learning experiences through socially distanced physical fitness!

Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) in MA

Safe and fun after school program

While tackling age-appropriate obstacle courses, your child will test his or her mental fortitude and engage in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), a key component of the Massachusetts school curriculum. SEL has five features, all which will be capitalized on when your son or daughter begins to climb. Because the courses at Boundless feature balance beams, bridges, rolling elements, and more, students will automatically tap into their self-awareness, the first feature of SEL.

They must evaluate their surroundings and their own feelings towards their situation, whether it is apprehension, excitement, or some combination of the two that they are experiencing. This self-awareness helps them to self-manage (feature two). Small group work will tap into two more features, social awareness and relationship skills, and the overall experience helps students work towards feature five: responsible decision making. These 21st-century skills are essential to creating college and career-ready global citizens.

The Educational Benefits of our Berlin, MA After School Program

The educational benefits of enrolling your son or daughter in the after school program at Boundless Adventures are clear, but you can also rest assured that safety is an utmost concern as well. Staff are taking every precaution to maintain social distancing and prevent the spread of disease in a world where the word “Covid-19” inspires fear and that same uncertainty as when it began.

There are hand sanitizing stations throughout the park, and staff are regularly disinfecting equipment. Masks are requested for check-in and harnessing/de-harnessing situations, and all guests are screened upon arrival. At the conclusion of the school day, you can rest assured that your child is in good hands at Boundless Adventures, a place where play and learning go hand in hand.

Family Taurus will see real roller coasters in 2021. Even couples who have been married for more than one decade will experience youthful passion. The Ox will help the zodiac sign open up with a new attractive side in front of a partner. However, be careful: during sex chat roulette the long-awaited vacation, there is a risk of spinning a resort romance with far-reaching consequences. Think carefully about whether it is worth changing a tit in your hands for a crane in the sky, the love horoscope warns.

The Top After School Program for Students in Purchase, New York

Monday, August 10th, 2020

September is right around the corner, and with thoughts of changing leaves and cooler weather comes the back to school season. Whether your children will be attending in person or digitally, routines will change drastically in the coming weeks. Though school may look different than it has in the past, one constant is that working parents will begin their search for the top after school programs for their kids.

While safety is always a first and foremost concern for parents when selecting a program, it is even more prevalent now in our current world. Because of this, it is essential that after school offerings are taking the threat of Covid-19 seriously and are taking the appropriate precautions to prevent the spread of disease.

The Extension of Student Learning in Purchase, NY

The Top After School Program for Students in Purchase

While safety and cleanliness are, especially now, the most important factors, one more factor should be considered alongside this: the extension of learning. Why pay for someone to simply babysit or supervise your child, when you could seize the opportunity for your child to engage in social and emotional learning activities beyond the classroom that will allow them to grow? The past few months have definitely tested adults and children alike, and it is more important than ever for students to collaborate with others and enter the world of experiential learning.

Luckily, if you are near the area of Purchase, New York, you will find the perfect program at Boundless Adventures that checks off your boxes for both safety and learning. This aerial adventure park will not only excite your child and stimulate their minds and bodies, but it is fundamentally designed to help your child fulfill aspects of the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) that is a pillar of New York’s school curriculum.

The Boundless Adventures After School Program

Top After School Program for Students in Purchase

As a member of Boundless Adventures’ after school program, your child will be able to tackle rope and zip-line courses nestled amongst the trees. There are four levels of courses that vary based on student age and difficulty level, and of course the level of daring that your child may have. These obstacle courses involve bridges, balance beams, rolling elements, and more, so the most obvious benefit is the extension of physical activity beyond school.

Most important though, perhaps, is the SEL that was lacking when the world essentially shut down in the spring. While tackling these obstacles, your child will work with other children and adults. They will practice self awareness and self management as they process their fears, make calculated decisions, and engage in play. They will be provided with the unique opportunity to practice social awareness in small group classes that tackle fears and solve problems together. This, in turn, will strengthen their relationship skills and ability for responsible decision making, and these elements make up the five essential components of SEL.

A Socially Distant & Safe After School Program in NY

Boundless Adventures of course offers a socially distanced and unique fitness opportunity, but they know your primary concern is the safety of your loved ones. This is why reservations are mandatory for park guests, who will be screened upon entering. Staff will enforce social distancing requirements as well, and your child will have access to hand sanitizer stations throughout the park. Equipment is regularly disinfected, and staff will wear PPE while working with your child. Finally, Boundless Adventures asks that masks be brought for harnessing/de-harnessing scenarios in addition to check-in at the park. Boundless Adventures is committed to the protection and growth of our society’s youth. Their mission is to provide opportunities for fun that also capitalize on learning. Because of this, they are the perfect choice for your desperately sought after, after school program this year.

The Perfect Date Night for the Adventurous Couple

Wednesday, July 29th, 2020

The art of dating has always been somewhat anxiety-inducing, and over time it has gotten more complicated. First Dates and random run-ins at the coffee shop have evolved to “swipe rights” in a digital age, and many argue it has been more difficult than ever to meet people in such a fast-paced society. Today though, take one fledgling couple and add in one global pandemic, and what you get is overwhelming uncertainty.

You must navigate the waters of a new relationship while also avoiding much of the public world. You may even schedule a time to meet a potential new beau at the local watering hole, only to realize that his or her profile picture did not include a mask. You then begin to panic as you scan the eyes of the crowd, looking for a sign of familiarity before you approach who you think you should be meeting…no pressure!

Date Night in the Trees

We are here to tell you though, that despite a crazy current society, many of our dating practices could use an upgrade anyway. While dinner and a movie sound great in theory, how much can you really get to know somebody while sitting side by side, reacting to characters on a screen?

Forget the fact that dining out and catching the latest blockbuster hit aren’t experiences like they were only a few months ago; instead, turn your attention to the fact that there are better options that allow you to show your adventurous side and see what the other person is really made of. What better way to learn more about someone than to watch him or her problem solve, face fears, and throw caution to the wind?

Luckily, there is a local park near you that can help take any relationship, new or old, to the next level (literally and figuratively–keep reading for why!).

Adventure Parks in NY, MA & WI

So where will you go on your next date? Hop in the car and head straight to Boundless Adventures Aerial and Adventure Park (now we hope our “next level” pun is making sense). At Boundless Adventures, you and your significant other can tackle rope and zipline obstacle courses nestled amongst the trees. There is something for everyone at each of the three locations in Purchase, NY, Berlin, MA, and Kenosha, WI. There are nine courses offered that range from beginner level to expert. The beginner level courses are fittingly called Exploration Courses; these can be tackled by children as young as seven and sit ten feet high, with features such as easy bridges, balance beams, and a low-speed zipline.

The intermediate level Motivation Courses sit at fifteen feet in the air and pack slightly more punch with introduced rolling elements. Tackle the advanced Strength Courses or the expert Conqueror Course, though, and you will be sure to impress your date. Each element of the obstacle course gets more difficult now, and the courses sit at 22-26 feet and thirty to forty feet in the air respectively. Boundless Adventures parks also offer beautiful grounds with walking paths and benches for when you want to take a break.

Here, you can bond with your partner as you watch others tackle the same obstacles. What is even better is that you can do all of these things while feeling safe; the park is committed to social distancing and sanitizing practices, and you will be subject to prescreening upon your arrival. Masks are also encouraged for all guests.

What better way to ignite a new spark or set an old one ablaze than to step hand in hand into adventure? Your date night woes are over. Boundless Adventures is the perfect location to be, well, boundless. Set your spirit free and see where the wind takes you. To new experiences!

Fun in a Pandemic: 5 Safe Ideas Near Berlin, MA

Wednesday, July 29th, 2020

“Antsy” is just one word to describe how many of us have been feeling lately. After spending time away from work, school, and loved ones for so long, many are itching to plan their next day trip or family outing. Unfortunately, much of this planning is often put on hold due to concerns over health and safety in our current world.

Though the phrase “new normal” may be overused, it certainly explains how the foreseeable future will play out: masks, social distancing, and some lingering anxieties as we navigate social spheres. Luckily, the following list provides five great ideas for fun that will make you feel safe and secure, all around the area of Berlin, MA. It’s time to put some plans in motion!

Broken Creek Vineyard – Shrewsbury, MA

For those 21 and older, look no further than Broken Creek Vineyard and Winery in Shrewsbury. This winery features a rustic charm, and you and your friends can purchase wine by the bottle or glass.

Here you will find your typical reds and whites on the menu, in addition to a special rosé, blush, and the infamous Raspberry Frost dry raspberry wine. There are currently no tastings due to the pandemic, but you can enjoy regular public winery hours on the weekends. Make your outdoor dining reservations ahead of time, and don’t forget to bring your own face mask!

Boundless Adventures – Berlin, MA

For those children and adults looking for an exhilarating thrill, head on over to Boundless Adventures in Berlin, only seventeen minutes down the road from Broken Creek. This aerial adventure park features four different difficulty levels of rope and zip line courses, and the more daring you are, the higher you can climb.

Children as young as seven can start with the Beginner obstacle courses ten feet in the air, and at ten years of age they can tackle the Motivation Courses at fifteen feet high. Older and more advanced adrenaline junkies can tackle the 22-26 feet high Strength Courses or the expert level Conqueror courses which sit amongst the trees at heights between thirty and forty feet. These rope courses feature ladders, rolling elements, bridges, and ziplines.

Those who simply wish to watch can take advantage of walking paths and benches throughout the park. Boundless Adventures has committed to making you feel safe with strictly enforced social distancing, a reservations-only policy, and a current

capacity limit of thirty percent, among other precautions.

Wachusett Reservoir – Clinton, MA

Another seventeen minutes down the road from Boundless Adventures, those with slightly slower paced plans in mind can amble through the Wachusett Reservoir in Clinton. Here, guests can partake in numerous activities such as fishing, biking, running, walking, and even hunting and snowshoeing in the proper season.

This location known for its scenic views does follow state park guidelines for Covid-19, which encourage social distancing and discourage gatherings of ten or more people. These guidelines also suggest the best practices of handwashing, avoiding contact recreational sports, and of course staying home if you are not feeling well or if you are in the high risk population, but a safe family outing is yours for the taking at this peaceful and nature inspired location.

Maple Hill Disc Golf – Leicester, MA

Within a half-hour of the Reservoir you can start making memories with friends at Maple Hill Disc Golf in Leicester. For only eight dollars per round (and access to the game room), you and your small group can reserve a tee time online as far as 32 days in advance to play some disc golf! The grounds at Maple Hill feature five different configurations: reds, whites, blues, diamonds, and golds.

The “reds” are the recommended course for beginners, where holes are between 250 to 300 feet in length. Those looking for more of a challenge can attempt the “whites” and “blues” which feature a much longer range and eventually shots over water. The diamonds configuration is for players with serious skills, and this course is even slated to be featured during the MVP open this fall for professional disc golfers.

The “golds” are the host course for this event, and require the most skill. Those looking for a taste of different difficulties can try their hand at the “Old Glory” course, which alternates between reds, whites, and blues. The maximum group size is five and capacity at the pro shop is currently limited, but you can safely work up an appetite with friends and order some well deserved pizza at the conclusion of your course.

Breezy Picnic Grounds and Waterslides – Douglas, MA

Our final stop is 33 minutes from Maple Hill: Breezy Picnic Grounds and Waterslides in Douglas. Breezy is similar to the Reservoir in the sense that guests can enjoy a picnic packed lunch, but here they can also swim in the Whitins Reservoir in addition to gliding down one of three 300 foot waterslides.

There is even a mini slide for children 42” and under and the grounds boast certified lifeguards for safety. Kids and adults alike will enjoy these thrills, and they can also take advantage of the vast picnic grounds and large tables for seating. Check their website in the morning before heading over; they will make an announcement when the capacity for the day has been reached.

You can purchase all-day passes for waterslides, the park, and swimming, or a reduced price pass for the park and swimming only. Due to Covid-19 about half of the picnic tables are currently available, but you can be happy knowing that when you secure your spot at this location, you will have access to hand sanitizing stations and new line protocols for the waterslides. There are no large group bookings this summer, but you can pack up your own gas grill (no charcoal, please), barbecue the day away, and enjoy free parking.

COVID Safe Days Near Berlin, MA

Lock-down be gone! Look no further than Berlin and its surrounding areas this summer for your next fun and safe adventure. With a little something for everyone, these five options will guarantee an unforgettable experience.

Coronavirus Blues: Getting Out of the House and into Adventure

Monday, July 27th, 2020

It’s no secret that the past few months have taken a toll on us all. From postponed celebrations and vacations to maybe a little too much togetherness indoors, most people are looking for the next opportunity to escape the four walls they have been staring at for a while now. Teenagers who previously opted for video games and blew off the “go outside and play” suggestions of earlier generations are now realizing just how necessary it is to experience a change in environment: to smell the fresh air, and to move their bodies from the couch. An overly sedentary lifestyle will eventually wreak havoc on anyone’s mental health. So how can we beat the “coronavirus blues”?

Finding the Best Spot for Outdoor Adventure in NY, MA & WI

Luckily, those near New York, Massachusetts, and Wisconsin have the luxury of proximity to one of the best outdoor experiences: Boundless Adventures. This aerial adventure park is the perfect opportunity to literally get back in the swing of things (we’re talking rope courses and zip lines!) after time in lock-down.

The locations in Purchase, NY, Berlin, MA, and Kenosha, WI, feature nine courses with varying levels of difficulty to not only stimulate your mind but to exercise your body. The benefits of movement are endless, and participating in physical activity has been long known to boost our moods and relieve stress (thanks, endorphins!).

Exploring Your Next Outdoor Adventure Park

So what exactly can you expect to find at Boundless Adventures? Children as young as seven can begin with the Exploration Courses, which rest ten feet in the air and include bridges, balance beams, and a low speed zip line.

Those older (ages ten to eleven) and braver can take a run at the intermediate Motivation Courses, which introduce ladders and rolling elements at an elevation increase of five feet. Your bold and brave twelve year old can tackle a more advanced Strength Course, which sits amongst the trees at a height of 22-26 feet. With an increased difficulty on obstacles now, there is a test of agility, and completion of these courses will definitely leave you with a feeling of great accomplishment and satisfaction.

Finally, the expert level Conqueror Courses are reserved for those daredevils fourteen and older. These require more stamina and strength, as well as a certain boldness; obstacles rest at thirty to forty feet in the air. Whether you are an adrenaline junkie or just someone looking to get moving and experience something new, there is a course for you. Not as ready to climb as you are to escape the house? Take advantage of the walking paths and benches as you watch your loved ones play.

Come with your family, your friends, your significant other, or your coworkers, and get that natural high that only the great outdoors can provide. Your body, and mind, will thank you!

Outdoor School is in Session: Problem Solving in the Trees

Friday, July 17th, 2020

One of the biggest concerns parents have held in our recent remote world is what learning from a distance is doing to the social and cognitive development of their children. While tasks are still assigned and expectations still held, many can admit that what takes place at home behind a screen is no comparison to an interactive classroom environment. While talks of reopening linger in the air, there is no denying that our children’s immediate future is uncertain, and it may be some time before we see a return to what we once considered normal. This begs the question: how do we foster developmental growth outside of school? Maybe the answer here is not the keyword “school”, but rather a focus on what lies “outside”.

Outdoor Learning & Adventure Parks: The Classes We Always Wanted

The best thing we can do in times of chaos and upheaval is to revisit our roots–literally. Our adventure park, Boundless Adventures, offers three locations in Purchase, NY, Berlin, MA, and Kenosha, WI, that allow guests from near and far to come explore a world amongst the trees. The best opportunities for learning that we can provide for our children involve hands on, experiential learning. We owe them the ability to explore their environment in a tangible way.

While books and lectures are important, we cannot forget Howard Gardner, who proposed the theory of Multiple Intelligences in education. This theory suggests that there are multiple ways, eight in fact, in which we learn and interact with the world around us. While traditional schooling focuses primarily on the logical/mathematical, linguistic, and perhaps musical intelligences, one such overlooked approach is the bodily-kinesthetic one, in which we learn through movement.

Our courses, which allow children as young as seven to climb and play, capture the essence of this kinesthetic component. Our guests immerse themselves in our rope and zipline courses, which allow them to break beyond boundaries and to build confidence and bravery. These qualities will transfer to other areas of life, and aid them in other academic and career pursuits.

Adventure parks and the challenges that our obstacle courses provide allow children to explore intrapersonal learning as well. They must learn to process their emotions, overcome their fears, and make decisions. Even moreso they must activate and strengthen their visual-spatial capacities when they anticipate and imagine their next move. When working with a team or with friends and family, our courses also allow for the strengthening of the interpersonal intelligence. Who knows–your child may even explore the naturalistic approach to learning as they immerse themselves in the great outdoors!

What becomes clear is that getting out into nature and playing, like in the good old days, is essential to our cognitive and social development. While the high technology offerings of our indoor world seem to be the way of the future, it is the hands on problem solving of play that really captures the 21st century skills that our schools are so trying to build. Critical thinking and communication come hand in hand with adventure.

Though times are uncertain, we must look to the silver lining in the clouds. At our parks, you can get even closer to that silver lining as you lift yourself up into the air. School in the traditional sense that we have hoped for may not be our current reality, but a little outdoor exploration and problem solving is just what the doctor ordered.

How Adventure Parks Teach You to Face Your Fears

Friday, July 17th, 2020

Since the start of 2020, we have experienced what can only be considered a whirlwind: a whirlwind of events, of information, and of emotions. Life has been uncertain to say the least, and as uncertainty remains at the forefront of our thoughts, anxiety begins to creep in. Our fears take over easily, and as humans we tend to succumb to the pressures of the unknown. Though the circumstances in our current times may be unique, fear is by no means a new concept in our lives.

We all have our hesitations and our phobias. Some of these are backed by science or fact, while others we may deem irrational. We say to ourselves, “If only I were more brave!”, or, “Imagine what I could do if there was nothing holding me back!” More often than not, however, it is our own minds that keep us from our achievements. It is our own selves who prevent us from being brave, and from facing our fears. Trust us–we are somewhat of what you may call experts when it comes to facing your fears. After all–our adventure parks are built around the concept of climbing, both literally and figuratively, to new heights. We challenge our guests to climb up amongst the trees, and give themselves over to nature in all of its unpredictable glory.

Adventure Parks Are 2020’s Best Kept Secret

Adventure parks are the best kept secret in the world of overcoming fear; they are the key to realizing potential and tackling our anxieties. Boundless Adventures is a physical manifestation of the mental obstacles we navigate on our way to triumph. Just as a child may contemplate the water from the six foot high diving board or inch slowly backwards as the creepy-crawler inches forwards, that same child can strap on a helmet, step into a harness, and climb, glide, and swing. They can experience what it is like to crash down the boundaries that oppose them.

At our park, people of all ages can come explore how far they can really go in the direction of adventure. They can perhaps quite literally face their fear of heights; but, what they can also do is use our courses to free themselves of whatever it is in life that is holding them back. Each meticulously placed step and each hand reaching out to help a friend are the confidence boosts that many of us so need without even realizing it.

Finding Outdoor Adventure in NY, MA & WI

Between our three locations in Purchase, NY, Berlin MA, and Kenosha, WI, and nine courses at each, we offer plenty of opportunity for the brave-hearted, and those who may just need a little push in the right direction. Don’t worry, though, if you aren’t ready to dive right into the deep end: children as young as seven can start with our Exploration Courses, and in a few years find themselves on a Motivation Course. Older and more audacious guests may find themselves on the Strength or Conquerer Courses right from the beginning of their visit, the latter of which boasts heights of thirty to forty feet in the air. No matter which obstacles you complete, we can guarantee you will leave feeling like a warrior.

If an escape is what you need, while still being grounded in reality, then you are in the right place. Our roots grow deep, and remind us that the first step is all we need in order to unlock a world of opportunity. As you zip line down to the end of your journey, the wind rushing across your face, you will come to realize that you are all you need in order to be brave. Your possibilities are endless–or should we say–boundless.
