Tips for Finding & Visiting a Zipline Park Near Me

Tuesday, February 15th, 2022

What could be more fun and invigorating than a trip to a zipline park? If you’ve never felt the excitement of whipping down a zipline with the wind in your hair, then what are you waiting for? If you were looking for an excuse to check out your local zipline park—then this is it!

But before you make the trek, there are some tips you should know. From how to find “the best zipline park near me” to what and who you should bring. We’ve got you covered for everything you’ll need to have a truly amazing day.

Read on to learn about what you can expect from a trip to an adventure park and how to make your day even better.

Choose Your Own Adventure Park

If you’re lucky enough to have a few different adventure parks and ziplining facilities close to where you are, then how do you go about choosing the one that’s best for you? There are a few different criteria your chosen park should fulfill.

First and foremost is a wide variety of course types. You want there to be something for everyone, from beginners to seasoned pros. This way, everyone will be able to enjoy themselves.

Next, you want to make sure that the staff on hand are helpful and attentive. While ziplining is very much a “choose your own adventure” type of deal, you do want the peace of mind of knowing that if you need help, it’s there.

Who to Bring Along

Once you’ve settled on the park you want to hit, you’ll need a fun and energetic group to go with. Ziplining is great as a weekend activity with friends, but it’s also the perfect backdrop for organized events.

Ziplining is an amazing activity for birthday parties, corporate team building, school trips, and even bachelor or bachelorette parties. The options are endless. So choose your crew wisely.

What You Should Wear

Depending on the level of difficulty of the courses you choose, and your fitness levels, ziplining can be a moderate to intense workout. For this reason, it’s best to wear clothes that you feel comfortable in. You should be able to move freely—try wearing your favorite hiking or workout clothes.

The time of year you go will also dictate your fashion choices. If it’s on the chillier side of things, you’ll want to wrap up warm. But in the summer, you can probably shed a few layers.

No matter what time of year you go at, it’s a good idea to wear a hat and bring sunscreen with you. Especially in the warmer months. You don’t want to end up getting burned or suffering from heatstroke.

The Ultimate Zipline Guide: 7 Tips For the Time of Your Life

Thursday, February 10th, 2022

So you’re thinking about going ziplining for the very first time.

We can promise that it’s an experience unlike any you’ve experienced before, especially if you do it at an aerial adventure park.

In fact, we’ve been ziplining across NY, MA and countless other places for more than a decade.

That means we’re an authority on this kind of thing, which is why we’re here to make this the best ziplining trip you’ll ever take.

Let’s Break It Down

You’ve likely heard of your friends doing it, but for many, their fear holds them back from the experience.

But the adventure is one of self-growth rather than something to be terrified of. In fact, this thrill-seeking activity is a great way to reduce stress and build self-esteem!

For beginners, it’s helpful to have an idea of what to expect. If you want to try ziplining at an aerial adventure park, here are 7 things you should know before your first experience.

Prepare For Your First Ziplining Experience with These 7 Tips

Rather than psyching yourself out, let’s get a better understanding of what to expect with your first ziplining experience.

Here are a few tips to help you prepare and enjoy the adventure safely.

1. Dress Correctly

What do you wear for something like this? First and foremost, you want to be comfortable. Fitted workout apparel is best to wear when ziplining.

Lighter clothes are helpful if you’re planning your adventure for the hot summer months here in NY and MA.

If you’re taking part in a zipline or adventure park where the weather is cooler or snowing, dress appropriately for that as well. You want to be comfortable for this trip of a lifetime!

When it comes to covering up your feet, sneakers or any comfortable athletic shoes are highly recommended. Your shoes should definitely be closed-toed and you should always avoid Birkenstocks, sandals, flip-flops, and any open-toe shoes.

Most zipline parks will prohibit skirts and dresses as they can be a safety hazard. Do not wear any loose jewelry.

Now that you’ve got the outfit down to an exact science, let’s tackle how our guides (and others) will help you on the big day.

2. Your Guides Will Help You

If you have no ziplining experience, don’t worry. We don’t expect you to come to the adventure park knowing exactly what to do (although we have some tough courses for you seasoned vets!). Our guides will help you enjoy a safe and amazing experience at Boundless Adventures.

Whether you choose to zipline in our NY or MA park, we promise we’ll help you every step of the way.

Upon arriving at the park, a guide will explain how everything works (that includes the zip line and everything else). Be sure to listen carefully as your guide goes over instructions.

If you forget something or are unsure at any point, don’t hesitate to ask someone. You’ll see guides and staff members stationed throughout the park if you have any questions or need help.

3. Remember, Your Safety is the Highest Priority

We promise that you can have a ton of fun ziplining in NY and every other location that offers it, all while thinking safety first.

Since we view your safety as the most important part of your trip we have highly trained guides, regularly inspect and update our equipment and have our parks inspected regularly.

All of that hard work allows you to have fun without worrying about the details.

Here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect at Boundless Adventures, through our unrivaled safety system:

  • Trained staff will fit you safely into a full-body harness. At Boundless Adventures, your harness locks into a safety line through an always “on belay” system.
  • Two carabineers are connected together and do not allow users to fully disconnect from the safety line. Participants are unable to come “off belay” until they are firmly on the ground. This system provides you with the security of knowing that you’re always attached to a safety line.
  • You also have the opportunity to master the equipment on training stations before you head up to the trees.

Your safety is the guides’ top priority, so you can trust that they will help you get the most out of the experience safely.

If you want to get into the more technical side of safety, it’s important to know that The Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) sets the building and maintenance standards for zip line courses. The ACCT requires courses to be inspected annually by a qualified third party. When choosing where to zipline, always look for a park with ACCT approval.

The bottom line is this:

If you’re wearing the right clothing and pay attention to the guides’ directions, you’re going to have a blast (all while being safe in the process).

4. Don’t Rush the Experience

We’ve seen so many people rush the ziplining experience by rushing through their current course to get to the next one. What makes aerial adventure parks so much better than just a basic zipline course is the diversity of experiences that will challenge your mind and your body.

You shouldn’t treat your ziplining experience at any of our NY, MA parks like a race.

Take your time, zipline with your friends/family and make it the experience you always wanted.

After all, how often are you hanging in the trees zipping around from one to the next?

That’s what we thought.

5. Surrender the Selfie But Capture The Moment

Of course, you can’t do this awesome, exhilarating activity without having the photograph to celebrate it. However, keep in mind that your safety is far more important than that selfie you’ve been craving.

Unfortunately, it is not safe to use a camera while ziplining. You’ll need both hands to do this activity.

Ask a family member or friend to capture your ziplining or adventure park moment for you from the ground. There are also various tree platforms throughout courses if you’d like to take pictures there.

Don’t forget, the picture will show how you’re really feeling as you zip through the air. So have some fun, let out a yell and show the world what ziplining is all about.

6. You May Become an Adrenaline Junkie

Some of you may already love the thrills that come with ziplining and adventure parks.

For those of you who are ziplining in NY and MA for the first time, you may become an addict.

Why? Because once you’re flying through the air, it’s hard to imagine what it was like being on the ground all the time.

Many adventure parks (including Boundless Adventures) offer more activities to keep the experience alive.

We couldn’t ask you to challenge your boundaries if we only had one way to do it!

7. Enjoy Your Day at the Park

Any beginner zipliner may experience some fear going into it, but don’t let that anxiety keep you from going out and challenging yourself. A little fear is definitely normal, but you’ll see the benefits of the experience as soon as you feel the rush of the wind against your face!

Wherever you’re ziplining, take in the nature of the scene around you. While this experience will definitely be an adrenaline rush, it’s also a chance to gain some peace out in nature.

Take the opportunity to breathe in the fresh air and experience flight for the first time.

Where to Have Your First Ziplining Experience

Now that you understand the safety precautions and have an idea of what to expect, it’s time to book your first ziplining adventure.

If you’re in the NY or MA area, we’d love to take you on your first adventure.

As adventure park experts, we promise you’ll have a blast here!

So what are you waiting for? Invite your closest friends or family members for a bonding experience you’ll never forget.

2022 Ziplining Adventure

If you find yourself sitting at your desk daydreaming of adrenaline-filled adventures, you’re not the only one. Studies show that 52% of workers feel burnt out at their jobs and find themselves longing for a vacation or a getaway for a day.

One great way to get away from your workload for the day and beat the burnout is to visit a zipline adventure park. We know a thing or two about outdoor adventure and we’ve got 4 main reasons you should come ziplining!

It’s Challenging

Zipline parks, while certainly fun, are also extremely challenging. Stepping off a platform and zipping across the forest is not something that many of us do every day.  Whether it’s a mental or physical challenge, it’s a new experience for you and your body.

The result is clear, when you step off the platform to race through the trees on a zipline, you put yourself to the ultimate test. You challenge yourself to take new risks, face your fears, and step out of your comfort zone.

It’s Beautiful

When you visit an adventure park (in NY, WI, MA or anywhere!), you won’t be hanging out in a typical amusement park setting. Instead, you’ll get a chance to get out into nature and take in the wooded, hilly, forested areas in your neighborhood.

What’s more, as you fly across zipline courses, you’ll have the chance to check out some gorgeous views of the area. Since you’re riding above the treetops, you’ll get a clear view of the surrounding countryside from a bird’s eye view!

It’s Convenient

Let’s face it, for most of us planning a vacation can be difficult for a variety of reasons. We want to help you get out and get your adrenaline pumping, without having to travel hundreds (or thousands) of miles to do so.

We know that there are tons of zipline parks around the US, but if you’re in the New York, Massachusetts or Wisconsin areas, we have the ultimate zipline adventure park for you.

Sure we’re biased, but we’ve seen thousands of guests of all experience levels face their fears and enjoy the great outdoors.  The best part is, we’re conveniently located in each state.  That means easy travel arrangements and planning for your day.

It’s Teambuilding

Ziplining isn’t just a good solo activity. It’s also a great activity to participate in with your friends and family members!

When you go ziplining, you can make memories through shared experiences. It’s a great way to connect deeper with your family and friends while getting outdoors and getting active.

Plan a Trip to a Zipline Adventure Park Today

Visiting a zipline adventure park is a great idea for a number of different reasons. No matter what brings you to a zipline park, you’re sure to have the time of your life.

If you’re ready to explore one of the best zipline adventure parks out there, be sure to check out Boundless Adventures. If you happen to be in an area that we don’t yet service, don’t sweat it.  We know there are likely some great options that are local to you.

What Should You Wear on a Zipline Adventure?

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022

Zipling is a fun, exciting sport that has skyrocketed in popularity in recent years. In 2001, experts estimate that there were just 10 commercial ziplines in the U.S. Now that number is in the hundreds, with more popping up each day.

Whether you’re trying out this exciting sport for the first time or you’re already an experienced zipliner, you may find yourself wondering what to wear ziplining for maximum comfort, safety, and fun.

That’s why we’ve created the ultimate guide, to help you choose everything from clothing to GoPro mounts to wear or bring on your next ziplining adventure.

Please keep in mind the time of year that you’re going ziplining! If it’s projected to be cool out, we’d skip on our shorts recommendation and wear an extra layer or two!

Pants, Capris, Leggings, or Long Shorts

When you’re first deciding what to wear ziplining, pants will likely be the first thing that you’ll think about. It’s also one of the most important decisions you’ll make, because choosing the right ones can be the difference between a fun trip and a very uncomfortable one.

The harness that you’ll wear when ziplining or exploring a high ropes course goes under your legs and around your waist, securing you tightly to the line above your head. Shorts that are too short may ride up when your harness is tightened, or when you’re zipping down the line.

While this won’t put you in any risk, it can be uncomfortable. Instead, opt for shorts that reach to knee length or slightly above, or play it safe with capris, long pants, or leggings. Pants and shorts that are designed for working out or hiking, with moisture wicking, close-fitting fabric, are a great choice. They’ll help keep you cool and prevent chafing.

Shirts That You’re Comfortable In

Just as shorts can ride up while ziplining, shirts may ride up or get bunched beneath your harness, leaving you uncomfortable. A t-shirt that is long enough to tuck into your pants or one that is fitted enough that it won’t ride up is a good choice.

When you’re considering what to wear ziplining, keep in mind that ziplining is an outdoor activity, even if it doesn’t require much physical agility.

While you won’t have to do any heavy hiking, climbing, or other strenuous activity to enjoy the zip line, you’ll be more comfortable in clothing that you would wear to workout or go hiking. This will give you a greater range of motion, and help to prevent chaffing or heavy sweating in the heat.

Close-toed Shoes

No list of what to wear zip lining would be complete without a section on shoes. Many people neglect to consider what kind of shoes to bring along. Since you don’t need your feet while speeding down the zip line, many people don’t think that they’ll need close-toed shoes.

But you’ll have to climb to get to the start of your zipline and land on a platform at the end of it. Close-toed shoes help to prevent any accidents before and after riding the zipline.

Additionally, make sure that your shoes are tied or cinched on tight so that they won’t fall off when you’re zipping down the line. It’s so important that you wear close-toed shoes that it’s actually a rule.

Without proper footwear, you won’t get to enjoy your ziplining adventure in our NY or MA park, so make sure that you dress appropriately.

Sunscreen

Even in the shade of the trees, rays of sunshine, along with dangerous UV rays, peek through. If you’d wear sunscreen to go to the beach, you should apply sunscreen before you go ziplining, to help keep you safe and comfortable.

GoPro Chest Mount

If you’ve ever watched a zipline video on Facebook or YouTube, you know how thrilling they can be. Capturing your own is easy, with the right equipment.

If you have a GoPro and want to use it to tape your ziplining adventure, you’ll need a mount that won’t interfere with your harness. A chest strap mount is a good choice, as it leaves your hands free and won’t get in your way. In one of our earlier articles we talk about capturing the perfect selfie while ziplining.

This is the perfect way to get the experience, without risking holding your cell phone out in the air!

Choosing What to Wear Ziplining

This guide can help you figure out what your best clothing choices are for your next zipline adventure. But many of the decisions will ultimately be up to personal preference.

Make sure that what you choose to wear is something that you’re going to be comfortable and happy wearing. Ziplining is an exciting sport that’s great for people of any skill level or age. If you’re ready to try ziplining for yourself, check out our locations to find one that’s close to you!

Corporate Team Building Trips: Here’s What Your Employees Are Saying

Thursday, July 1st, 2021

I know from past experience that hearing of a corporate team-building trip is usually met with a bunch of sighs and disappointment.  My fellow co-workers would moan that we’re doing some random event with no purpose, that was filled with all of the “bosses” walking around making everyone feel on edge.  So now that you’ve been given the responsibility to plan your next corporate team-building event, the pressure is most certainly at an all-time high.

Luckily for you, we know a thing or two about planning some incredible corporate team-building events.  We’re the premier outdoor adventure park in the MA, NY, and WI areas with miles of zip-lines, rope courses, bridges, and trees covering our campuses.  But….before we talk about how to plan the ultimate trip, here are 3 ways to avoid disappointing everyone

How to Avoid a Bad Corporate Team Building Trip

We know that not all corporate team building trips are created equal, however, we think we have the secret sauce to make sure they’re all a ton of fun for your employees.

Tip #1: Listen to Your Employees

We know this sounds like the easiest tip on the face of the earth, but we’ve heard of some HORROR stories.  Talk to your employees and see what they enjoy doing.  Find out what truly is going on within the teams you’re taking to this event and see how the event might help (or hurt) your teams.

We could tell you countless stories, but we think this quote from the Director of Cheerleading for the New England Patriots speaks for itself, “This was one of the best decisions I have made as a coach, taking my team to this facility. Many stepped outside of their comfort zone, they did it together, they had fun, and they made memories that will last a lifetime.”

Tip #2: Find Something Fun that EVERYONE Can Do

Don’t plan an event because it’s something that only you enjoy doing.  Consider your staff’s abilities and how it may relate to the business.  We say this because events can make staff feel excluded or inferior to their fellow team members.

It’s why we LOVE telling people that we offer nearly 10 courses (of all different skill levels) at each of our New York, Wisconsin and Massachusetts parks.  We offer ziplines, rope swings, bridges and challenges that can be scaled up or down depending on each team you assign.  That means that every employee can take part without feeling like they might embarrass themselves in front of everyone.

Tip #3: Don’t Forget Why You’re Doing This

It’s easy to lose sight of why you began planning this trip for your employees.  While it’s built as a rewarding experience for your employees, it’s also to strengthen the team as a unit.  We recommend discussing with your employees during your trip the relationship between the activity and why you think it ties back to their work.

Your Corporate Team Building Trip in NY, MA and WI

Regardless of where you plan to host your next corporate team-building trip, make sure you truly consider your employees.  As the lifeblood of your business, remember that they want to have a fun and rewarding experience.

We pride ourselves on our reputation and our past corporate team-building events.  We’ve had the pleasure of hosting teams from IBM, GE Healthcare, Mastercard, PepsiCo, Morgan Stanley, and more across our parks.  As they continue to return for more team-building trips we continue to build on our offerings, which allows us to demonstrate that here at Boundless Adventures we truly bring teams together.

The Ultimate Outdoor Corporate Team Building Experience in Wisconsin

Sunday, June 27th, 2021

Less than an hour’s drive from Chicago and Milwaukee is an aerial adventure, unlike anything you’ve experienced before.  It’s the adrenaline rush that your employees have been craving from the office for so long.  We know that to be true because we’ve spoken with countless visitors from other corporate outings who have told us exactly that.

Here at Boundless Adventures Wisconsin we have 9 total courses, where you’ll find yourself (and your team) challenging your boundaries as you swing, climb, balance, traverse, and zip-line through our treetop adventure. Our ropes course is located in Bristol Woods Park, part of the Kenosha County Park system. Within this 200-acre park, there are more than 4 miles of hiking trails as well as the Pringle Nature Center.

As the go-to spot for outdoor adventure, filled with team-building courses in the trees, we’re showing people a new side of the great outdoors.  We’ve found unique ways to build on existing relationships and even create new layers of trust between our climbers.  That’s because we have them work together through rope courses, zip lines and other tasks.

Planning Your Team Building Outing in Wisconsin

While we don’t want to speak for your employees before you actually experience our Kenosha, WI Park, we’ve heard people call this the #BestDayEver

We know that there are a ton of great spots that you can consider in the Wisconsin area for your 2021 Corporate Outing, but we’re not sure you find one better than here.  Here at Boundless Adventures our aerial adventure park combines high ropes courses with zip lining and breathtaking views. High in the trees are elements that require adventure-seekers to swing, climb, balance, traverse, and zip-line.

What is a woodworking business?
Woodworking simply involves making or carving wood products. From timber structures such as chairs and kitchen cabinets to outdoor timber structures such as railings and awnings, the demand for woodworking business has always been high and will remain so as long as trees and timber exist.

Many people pride themselves on solid woodworking skills, but they never go beyond the hobby level. If this applies to you, then you can turn your skills and experience into a profitable business without breaking the bank to get started. Since no formal qualifications are required, nothing prevents you from taking the plunge at any time.

With car rides of less than an hour from Chicago and Milwaukee, we’d argue this is the best corporate team building spot in both states!

While we could tell you for hours why you and your team are going to love it here, we have a feeling some of our past visitors tell an even better story.  The New England Patriots Cheerleading Director said (about our MA park) that it was “one of the best decisions I have made as a coach” and we’ve even had teams from Mastercard, IBM, PepsiCo, Northwestern Mutual and more!

Post-Pandemic Corporate Team Trips Near Kenosha, WI

We promise that no matter your employee’s skill level, that they’re always safe with us on each and every course adventure.  Across our NY, MA, and WI parks we have over 300 rope bridges, 60 ziplines, and hundreds of 5-star reviews.  We don’t want to tell you that you’ve found the ultimate outdoor corporate event area near you, but….you’ve found it.

If more research is needed on your end, our team just published the following blog posts which may help address health concerns, the feedback your employees truly have about corporate outings, and more.  We recommend reading:

Planning Corporate Team Building Events After The Pandemic

Tuesday, June 15th, 2021

Over the past 12 months, the world around us has changed dramatically.  From how our children attended school, how we attended work, and how we found ways to have fun.  As the world now begins to find it’s way back to in-person events, offices, classrooms, and more, we’re all left wondering how to navigate these uncharted waters.

It’s become uncharted waters because so many corporate businesses operated remotely and lost that cohesive in-office unit they previously had.  Now workers are used to daily zoom calls and no further “office” interaction.  As you move to bring your teams back together you have to consider so many different elements, as they impact everyone differently.

Fortunately for you and so many other corporate businesses in the NY, MA, and WI areas, we’ve become self-proclaimed experts in bringing teams together.  While the official words are “corporate team building” we like to think of it as bringing people together and allowing them to rediscover that office magic from years past.

So now that you’ve decided to start planning some corporate outings for your team post-pandemic, we have a few tips and tricks to make it your best event yet.

Corporate Team Building Events (AKA Bringing Your Team Back Together) in 2021

We have three main tips that we recommend to any NY, WI or MA-based business that wants to bring back the corporate team-building element.  If you’re a small business that doesn’t love the term corporate, don’t worry…we promise these tips will be perfect for your small and tight-knit teams as well.

Team Building Tip #1 – Location, Location, Location

We’ve all spent a TON of time locked away in our homes, home offices or wherever else you had the opportunity to lockdown.  Start looking at outdoor experiences and locations that you and your teams can travel to.  It can be something as simple as a park outing where you organize a team event, cater some good food and forget about the daily workload for a little while.

If you’re looking for something more focused on rekindling that office magic, we happen to know the perfect spot.  In New York, Massachusetts and Wisconsin we’re home to the top aerial adventure parks in the area.  With rope courses, ziplines, and team-building activities, it’s the ultimate outdoor experience.

Team Building Tip #2 – Safety Concerns

It’s possible that your employees will have some safety concerns post-pandemic.  Whether those are related to cleanliness, capacity limits or the skill levels required for your event, it’s important to consider them all.

Here at Boundless Adventures, we are following all required safety and cleanliness protocols required by state and local authorities.  We ensure that we keep your group together throughout your event and can work with you and your team to spread those groups out as needed.  With nearly a dozen courses in each of our NY, MA, and WI parks we have the ability to meet your corporate team building needs.

We also have highly trained staff to guide each and every one of your employees throughout the trees as they zip, slide and climb their way through the adventure.

Team Building Tip #3 – The Experience You Want For Your Employees

When we talk about the employee experience we approach it from the view of someone who may work for you.  Do you want them to view your event or day out as nothing more than a “hyped-up” pizza party, or do you truly want them to learn and grow with their co-workers?

We approach the experience this way because here at Boundless Adventures we specialize in bringing teams together.  Our courses require your employees to work together to advance throughout the course, to trust each other as they leap and zipline and most importantly reinforce a culture of being one unit.

Corporate Team Building Planning Recap

The task of being the employee or supervisor who has to plan the post-pandemic company event can seem like a daunting task.  We wish we could make the decision for you and your team, but all we can do is give you the tools to find the perfect fit for you.

If you and your team are looking to plan a corporate event in the MA, WI or NY areas, we promise you won’t find a more exhilarating experience for you and your staff.

With nearly 10 total courses in each park, you’ll find yourself challenging your boundaries as you swing, climb, balance, traverse, and zip-line through our treetop adventures

So grab your team…we’ll see you in the trees.

Student Growth in After School Programs: The 5 Pillars of Your Child’s Learning

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020

As the fall approaches and students prepare for the return to school, parents must also make decisions regarding the after school care for their children. These decisions are often not made lightly; parents want to ensure that their students are not simply being “babysat”, but that they are being provided with the opportunities to extend their learning beyond the classroom. One concern that many parents have shared lately is that of how the nationwide shut down this past spring has affected the growth of their children, both socially and emotionally. While many districts do plan for in-person learning again, there is no arguing that many changes must occur that will still rob students of these essential experiences. A great after school program that aims to fill this “gap” and to bring students back together is the program offered at Boundless Adventures, an exciting aerial adventure park.

Boundless Adventures boasts three locations, so you are in luck if you are in the areas of Purchase, NY, Berlin, MA, or Kenosha, WI. At each location, children enrolled in the after school program will have the opportunity to work with peers and adults as they tackle rope and zip-line obstacle courses at various heights in the air.

With four levels of difficulty (and appropriate age requirements), these obstacle courses also feature rolling elements, bridges, balance beams, and more that will both challenge and engage your child. While this will no doubt be exciting for thrill seekers and those new to the world of adventure parks alike, the best part is that as your children climb, they are practicing the five essential elements of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) that are not only promoted within school curricula across the country, but that are essential for developing your child into a 21st century, college and career ready global citizen.

After School Student Growth: Self-Awareness & Self-Management

The first major component of SEL is self awareness. As your child engages with the courses, they will practice close evaluation of how they are feeling. They will process and react to their thoughts and their environment, which will lead to the second component of SEL: self management. As students self reflect, they are then encouraged to set goals for themselves and take the appropriate steps to achieving these goals while also adhering to rules and regulations.

After School Student Growth: Social Awareness & Relationship Skills

Because the after school program at Boundless Adventures also breaks children into small groups, your son or daughter will be able to work with others in an environment that will help him or her to refine their social awareness, the third pillar of SEL, and arguably one of the most important. Social awareness helps students to develop respect and empathy for others, skills that are so necessary in both the work world and all social spheres. In these groups, children will support each other as they face their fears and engage in new experiences without pressure. Relationship skills, the fourth feature of SEL, will also be developed through these same experiences, and with practice of all of these skills comes the last component: responsible decision making. Through these experiences at Boundless Adventures, all children will learn more about their own abilities to problem solve and reflect on their own learning experiences.

At the conclusion of each session, staff will lead all program participants through a debriefing session. During this time, team building is emphasized, and children are able to discuss the successes and failures of the day. Most important, however, is the “takeaway” that your child will be encouraged to reflect upon. The goal of all learning is transfer: how can what was learned be applied to other scenarios and to the world around us? By selecting the after school program at Boundless Adventures, you can ensure your child will grow in not only social and emotional contexts, but in his or her ability to define who or what they want to be in this world.
